A Night On the Town

These are pictures of the Duenas Family, who this post is about. The pictures are from last year when they came over for dinner. Here you see Priscilla, David and Helen, all involved in card tricks.

This is Hannah and Priscilla, playing Jenga. So exciting!

Here's Pete and Hannah, with Helen in the mirror. Pete is the same age as all of our sons-in-law, so he feels kind of like a son-in-law to David, since they're together at work all the time. Pete is a Black Belt Kung Fu instructor and Helen is a Brown Belt, so you don't want to mess with these people.

A couple weekends ago we stepped out to Downton LA with Pete and Helen. When David found out they'd never been to Philippe's, well we just had to take them there! Then I threw in the idea of walking from Philippe's, after dinner, through Olvera St. and then across Alameda Street to the big wonderful old train station, while we were in the immediate neighborhood. (I don't know why this thing is underlining! And there's no place to undo it... these fonts are acting goofy tonight!)

Here are David and Pete in Philippe's, putting the finishing touches on figuring out what to order when they got up to the counter... so many choices! When we got over to Olvera St. I tried setting up the camera and setting the timer to take a picture of all of us crouched on a planter, but it was just really lousy and unflattering.

Olvera Street was full of interesting things to fool around with!

When we got to the train station the guys took a picture of me and Helen in the huge hall, but it just wasn't any good at all!

At the train station David got a brainwave that we should go over to the airport and watch planes come in, since Pete and Helen hadn't done that before! So we hopped in the truck, got out the freeway map to figure out how to "get there from here," and headed over to the In-N-Out on Sepluveda, right under the flight path. It was fun! The guys kept trying to capture a shot of a plane passing over, so here are a few of David's efforts.

It was a really fun evening... we haven't done one like that in a while.

Yeah, I wonder where we ever learned to like all those crazy things?? I guess it was that crazy dad of ours, or something like that...
