We've been crazy busy, but it's all good! I'm taking a day off work today to try to finish reloading the kitchen and pull out the nasturtiums all along the parkway. So far I got up at 5:15 this morning and worked until 8:30 on unloading boxes. Then David and I went to the Grill to recuperate and get an ibuprofen in me! After breakfast I filled two green barrels with old plants, so I feel good about the yard.
For a little update on things, I'll show you a few recent pictures.
These pictures go back to last weekend when mom, Gretchen and I spoke at our Women's Spring Tea at church. We sat at Betsy Bragg's table and this is how it looked. She used her husband's grandmother's china and it was really lovely! There were 10 at our table and about 120 at the tea.
Our topic was "hospitality," and I think it probably went well. It's a good subject to think about!
They gave us these plants and gift certificates to a Tea place in Yorba Linda, so we'll have some fun using those... maybe this summer. Gretchen and Anders spent the night and Grandpa had fun acting goofy and getting Anders to give it a try too. Sometimes they're just two peas in a pod!
Uhhhh, I'm from Hickville! What's your name?
Oh, here comes another one from Hickville. They kind of look alike!
Boo!
Oh wait, it's King Tut and Little King Tut.
And now on to more serious matters...
...all our STUFF! I've been heaving boxes out the back door and tonight we're going to go get rid of most of them! I have about 10 boxes full of donations, so far, and I'd like there to be lots more!
But inside... things are shaping up, and that's HAPPY! We chose a tan color for the walls... not the one we had in the pictures but one called Cappuccino! That's what I wanted - coffee with lots of cream in it. The mellow colors seem to be just right.
I'm getting the bookshelves filled, as well as the cupboards down below. The space is different than what we had before, so I'm trying to figure out where everything should go, that will work the best.
The spot above the table is just waiting for the artwork that is in the mail as we speak. Can't wait!
Tonight we'll rehang the blinds over the sink... they took a bath in the bathtub with Simple Green and a nice brush, so they are clean again!
Here's a shot of the library bathroom! New toilet, floor and countertop. HK took apart the ceiling fan-light and cleaned the motor so now it's nice and quiet. An upgrade for sure.
This afternoon we went out to James' Hardware and got a new threshold for the kitchen door and switch plates for the whole kitchen. While we were there we saw a nice front door assembly in brushed nickel for a great price so we got that too. We'll wait to put it on when the door gets its coat of red paint.
And now, tomorrow, we look forward to having either one or two Ukrainian house guests, Igor and Igor, who are coming for nine nights. They have completed their Master's Degree in the Talbot extension program, along with 4 or 5 others, and are going to walk in Biola's graduation on Friday! I'm so excited that we get to have them here. One of the Igor's hasn't gotten his visa yet, so he may come later or not at all. But this has been the perfect inspiration to get all those boxes of kitchen stuff out of that smaller bedroom, in case we have two of them. Either way, we're looking forward to the coming busy week! The Nursing Department will be hopping too.
Take care of yourself now, and have a good week...
