Heidi's Birthday, Beach, Kitchen, Bathroom, Kitchen

Today is Heidi's birthday! Thirty-seven years ago today we drove down Beach Blvd. to Anaheim General Hospital and I gave birth to a tiny, bright eyed little girl. Heidi was and is a blessing and a sweetie pie!! Happy birthday, Heidi Ho!

Look at her now! I'd say Madeline looks like her, wouldn't you?

And here's Heidi and her family; William, Madeline, Abigail and Sam.

We've had great beach weather, so Sunday after church we headed down to the beach with our chairs and umbrellas. Wow, it was nice.

We each have our own umbrella!

This lifeguard was next to us... you can see that he's kind of cold. It was windy, but nice.

Monday brought progress in the kitchen. The most noticeable thing was the plywood countertop, without a sink hole cut into it yet. That's the library bathroom sink over there where the fridge goes... we're getting a new countertop in there, too.

This is a close-up to show you how Fernando is building little extensions on the cabinets that will make the stove and microwave/hood fit perfectly, and not have an unsightly gap, like we've had for about 27 years.

Tuesday I came home from work and they had the window open with a fan blowing. They had stained and varnished the cabinets! Nice. They're coming out a little darker than before, but I like them.

Speaking of the library bathroom, here's where they ripped off the counter top and sink, revealing a lot of junk that is now gone.

When I came home today, this beautiful cabinet that is going to replace the bookcase in the kitchen was piled in the livingroom, ready to install tomorrow! Exciting! The keyboard I'm using to type and everything else in the house is coated with a fine layer of dust that was created today when the guy from El Salvador installed the beautiful granite countertops!

Now, that's what I call pretty.

It comes from Brazil and is called Golden Cream.

I love rocks, so how perfect that I should have a counter top made out of rock! And there's my sink, made of composite - mostly granite, the rest is polymer.

And the library bathroom just got classier, too! Yeah! Tomorrow Fernando is going to install the new bookcase/cabinet and the beadboard, and his work will be done! Hooking up the sink, painting and installing the new floor will happen ASAP, and before long I'll be loading stuff into the "new" cabinets.

So that's where we are at this point! Thanks for asking...
