Hopefully, The Book's Finished!

This is a picture of Chilled Zucchini Avocado Soup that I made this week. Just thought you'd like to know. It was very good, especially when I added more salt and cilantro.

I've just sent off all the chapters of dad's book. I've actually sent them all one other time too, but that's when I found out that they all needed to be set up slightly differently! So, with dad's help, I've gone over every page and tweaked everything and I just sent them over to India again in 16 emails. Hope they stay there this time.

It's funny, because when I was first working on creating the templates and setting the whole thing up, I wrote over there and specifically asked for the dimensions, but each time, the answer came back talking about other things, but with no answers to my questions. I tried a few different times, asking in different ways, setting the questions clearly apart with bullet points, etc., but still got no direct answers. So... I finally just decided to measure the page size and copy area on Ray Lentzsch's book, which they had published, and do it exactly like that one. So, 391 pages later, when I sent it all over, that's when they told me that it needed to be slightly different in a few ways. The changes entailed adding about 55 pages to the total size of the book.

Ack! I think there's something cultural going on here... they're good people and helpful, and I know Americans can be very direct, but anyway, I think (and hope) we're on the right track now. Soon, boxes of green books will be arriving in LA Harbor, and that will be an exciting day!

My mind is already straying elsewhere... I'm back on the trail of SCD recipes! I'm starting to really work to pull together, test and photograph recipes for little booklets... they might cover a type of recipes, such as fish, or have a week's worth of dinners plus a dessert and a couple sides. I'm thinking of doing meals for the freezer; cook once - eat twice; or coconut flour recipes. I'm just about done with one on having a cooking day - cranking out 7 different meals from our website (x2) to fill the freezer! You can see that my mind is swirling and Abby Stevens and I have started cooking again!

It's that time of year again, when we get to go see some of our dear kids! It won't be long till we're in Denver... can't wait! David will be hauling a bag of golf clubs to leave in the Barnes's garage, so now, with another set already in the DeHarts garage, he's going to be up for sporting fun wherever we are.

I guess that's it for now... take care, and have a good week!

How frustrating! I'm glad it is off, hopefully for the last time! It will be a winner, I am sure! That soup looks yummy! We have been getting cilantro over here, which has been wonderful!

So, when do you ever turn on Skype? :-)

Happy to hear you are finished again and can move on to other areas of interest. Have a great time in Denver and say "hi" to the kids.

Hi Aunt Robin, it will be so exciting to have a book in our hands soon! Thank you. I have been experimenting with coconut flour recently, too. I found that it is extremely thirsty. Everything I've tried to make comes out dry, and even more than that, makes me incredibly parched after I eat it. I'd love to hear what you figure out-- I have yet to research this issue, but I know that there's at least one whole cookbook dedicated to baking with coconut flour. Have fun!

Hi Ariana,
Yes, coconut flour is really thirsty. You have to have lots of eggs in the product you make, both to add liquid and to make it rise. If you'd like to try out a recipe for me, giving me your feedback and a photo, I'll send you one! I have a lemon cake recipe that looks like it could be a winner...

Sure! I'd love to try the lemon cake. Right now, I tend to just dump stuff in a bowl according to how I think it should go... It would be nice to have an actual recipe to go by!
