Our Fireplace

When we redid our kitchen in 1984 David insisted that we also rebuild our fireplace at the same time, since it was unusable. Well, we've gotten more use and joy out of it... that was a great decision! We love to have lots of fires, but haven't bought wood yet, although we've come pretty close, and then the Lord leads us to a pile of wood. It happened again a couple weeks ago... David was saying that we were almost down to burning the furniture, when the man across the street (Ed) called and said he'd had his trees trimmed and David was free to come get most of the wood. David made lots of trips across the street with the wheelbarrow! It still needs to dry, but in the meantime David found a couple dried up branches that someone had put out on the side of the road, so he sawed them up and, combined with some pieces of old fencing, we're still in business! I thought I'd put up a couple pictures of David by a roaring fire he built last weekend.

So warm and welcoming! I bet you serve a mean cup of hot chocolate too. Our fire (in the woodstove with the window in the door) hardly goes out most of the winter. Wood heat is nice to keep the old men warm but not as good as our respective spouses. :)
