Yesterday afternoon we had a really nice time over at Gretchen and Kirk's house for Easter. There was a nice crowd, lots of good talk and good food, and plenty for the 'hunters' to hunt for. With only one actual child, there were still 9 hunters. The view from the back yard was just gorgeous. Later, people played ping pong and some practiced shooting the pellet gun into a small target in one of the flower beds.
It was also William's birthday, and Heidi reports that he had a nice birthday weekend, so we're happy about that!
We had the nicest meal the other night... it was very springy and fresh tasting. I snapped off the bottoms of a bunch of asparagus, then peeled the thick part off of the remaining stems and boiled them for 2-3 minutes, then drained. We heated the oven to 400, and melted about a tablespoon of butter in an ovenproof pan. We tossed the asparagus around in the butter, then pushed it to the sides. We broke 4 eggs in the middle and salted and peppered them. Cooking until the eggs began to get white on the bottom, we then sprinkled the whole thing with 2-3 tablespoons of freshly grated parmesan cheese. We put it all in the oven until the eggs were cooked to our liking, 3-5 minutes. It served both of us, with fruit! Yum.
The nasturtiums in our yard are so pretty this year! Instead of hanging down, they are mounding up. A couple of ladies came by Saturday to ask if they could snip a few for their Easter salad. The flowers always look so happy to me, and are a real sign of spring!

The cancer was a non-aggressive type and was completely surrounded by healthy tissue, so it was good news.
I have some vacation time coming up, so we're going "yurt-ing" at Lake Cachuma soon. I'm really looking forward to getting away, and I love that area! We may be able to find wildflowers too, and we can't resist a pastry at Olsen's in Solvang!
