Erin and I are making great progress on our project! We're creating 12 magazines that will be sold on her/our website, and this is a huge but inspiring project. Each magazine will have around 30 recipes, 10 or more of which are main dishes. We're making and photographing each one, (Abby is helping with this) so this is where lots of the time is going. We're also writing articles related to different themes each month. In order to actually pull all the material together into a magazine I've been using and learning Pages (the Mac design program), so this first edition has taken the longest, but is almost done! It will be about 25 pages long. I want to have January through April completely done before we publish the first one after Christmas, so I'm working every Friday and Saturday on various aspects of the project. One of the fun things is turning out to be having friends and family over for tasting sessions on occasional Fridays! People who are off on Fridays and don't mind being guinea pigs have tasted various dishes and we've been having fun! If you're in this category, let me know! I might be able to use your services. Above, you can see a picture of the cover and a few other shots of some of the food, just so you can see how it's going.
Each month we're also doing a restaurant review that is SCD friendly, and in February (the next magazine I'm working on) I want to highlight the Cheddar Burger (without the bun) at Burgerville in the Northwest. Would anyone like to go there for me and order the burger with no sauce and wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun? It could have extra tomato and grilled onions and could have a Diet Coke nearby... and you'd need to take some decent pictures of it, or someone eating it... and maybe someone standing in front of the restaurant, too. I just love that place and wish we had one down here! Let me know!
Auntie Bell used to say to me, "It's always something." I guess she was right.

Our camera's hard to use at the moment, but maybe we can borrow one and take a shot at Burgerville.
"It's always something that keeps us motivated and interested in life!" Your magazine cover is lovely!

Thank you Dennis Family... I'd love to see pictures of you at Burgerville! I just checked their online menu and ingredients lists and see that SCD choices could include the Smokey Blue Cheese Burger without bun and mayo, the Rogue River Smokey Blue Salad without the dried cranberries or dressing, the Tillamook Cheeseburger with no mayo, catsup or bun (the kosher dill pickles are fine), the Pepper Bacon Tillamook Cheeseburger without sauces and bun and the Bagel with Bacon and Egg without the bagel or sauce. Also it looks like they have apple slices, and their Odwalla orange juice looks like it's just OJ, so that would work too! They don't say that they'll wrap a burger in lettuce, but they do say they want every customer to be happy and have a smile on their face, so that makes me think they'll do it!
Everything looks GREAT, Mom. You're doing a huge service for all of us SCDers! I love seeing the cover - it looks so professional.
I always remember Auntie Bell saying to you (numerous times), "Robin, I don't know how you do it."
Neither do I! :)
I've heard raves about Burgerville from our pacific northwest friends. What a great place! I wish I could go there!
Your photos are beautiful!
It's food like this that make's David's World a happy place! I've got to be the recipient of some of this culinary delights and what a tasty treat it was!
Hi Robin,
Just looked at your blog...my first ever blog. Do you have an email address? I would love to "chat" online. Good to see you and yours and catch up.
Cheers! Katie Hendrickson
